About 8 months or so after freefincal was started, in early 2013, I wanted to present my thoughts on financial planning before an audience of retail investors.
Just as I was about to make arrangements for this, my health intervened and I could not speak or stand for too long due to Myasthenia Gravis.
Although my symptoms were under control soon, I was scared of a relapse because of exertion and decided to put aside presentation plans.
Last month, Mr. Suresh Parthasarathy, president of the TamilNadu Financial Planners association, invited me to make a presentation on inflation-protected retirement income strategies during their monthly meet.
I was skeptical about accepting the invite, because I was asked to present close to two hours. When you teach on the board with chalk, you can take breaks while writing or erasing the board. With a power point presentation, you just got to keep talking, until someone asks a question!
Scared as I was, I decided to go ahead with the presentation and see how I fare.
The audience, a group of about 20-25 CFPs were incredibly generous in listening to a rank outsider like me. There were many questions and I felt quite comfortable talking to them.
Although my voice was sore for a while, I had pleasant memories.
Emboldened by this experience, I write this post to ask if you would care to listen to me talk about goal-based investing, mutual fund investing and analysis, retirement planning etc.
I do not wish to earn money from this exercise. I am a natural public speaker and have been speaking on Physics for the last 20 years. All I want to do is to test new waters.
So if you are interested in listening to me, along with your colleagues/associates, send me an email:
