NaviPlan is a privacy-focused multi-asset portfolio and financial goal tracker developed by Gokul of Naviran Technologies in association with freefincal. In this article, we list some frequently asked questions about NaviPlan.
Presentation: The tool can be used on your PC, tablet, or mobile browser. If the tool is updated with new features, a simple browser refresh will load the changes and new features without affecting your data. You can close and reopen the browser window at will, and the data (stored in the browser’s database) will remain intact.
There is an option to export all transactions and settings via a JSON file, which you can upload to cloud storage for safekeeping.
If the browser cache is cleared or you wish to switch devices, you can simply upload the JSON file to get back on track.

FAQ – NaviPlan Privacy-first Portfolio Tracker
1. What data do you collect? We need your email and phone number to process and validate the purchase. We do not collect anything else. We will never contact you via phone. We may occasionally email you about important updates. We cannot see any of your portfolio holdings or goal-planning inputs.
2. How will you send me updates and bug fixes? The beauty of this setup is that you only need to refresh the page to get the latest version! All your existing portfolio holdings and goal planning inputs will remain unaffected.
3. How do I get started with this tool? You can either upload the CAMS-Kfintech consolidated account statement (CAS) or use our Excel template to upload transactions in that format. The CAS route is preferred.
4. If I close the browser tab, will I lose all data? No! The data will still be stored in the browser database. If you open the site again, all data will be intact.
5. Is the tool protected by a firewall? Yes. NaviPlan is hosted on a secure server with industry-standard firewall protection. However, since NaviPlan is designed as a local-first tool, your portfolio data never leaves your browser. The firewall protects the website itself from malicious traffic, but your actual financial data remains on your device – not on our servers.
6. Can I use this on my phone? Yes! NaviPlan is a browser-based tool that works on any device with a modern browser – desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. The interface is responsive and adapts to your screen size.
Important: Since data is stored locally in your browser, your portfolio will not automatically sync across devices. If you use NaviPlan on your phone and also on your laptop, they will have separate data unless you:
- Export a JSON backup from one device
- Transfer the file to the other device
- Import it there
Think of each device as its own “vault” – you can keep them in sync by manually exporting and importing the backup file.
7. What about future transactions? If you prefer to review your portfolio once in a while, you can simply re-upload the CAS to overwrite all transactions. If you prefer to look at it often, then you can manually add new transactions.
8. Are family portfolios supported? Yes. You can upload multiple CAS statements. Since all personal information will be stripped, you can assign labels to each fund. For example, if both of you hold Parag Parikh Flexi Cap, you can assign labels to know which is which. On top of this, you can assign goals to each fund fully or partially.
9. Can I map a mutual fund folio to two or more goals?
Yes, you can allocate the percentage associated with each goal. Please ensure there is no duplication.
