Venkatesh Jayaraman, a financial literacy enthusiast, has published a new ebook on the stock market carnage in 2020, how investors can mentally face it, with pointers on how different industries are impacted. Titled, Market Carnage (opportunity) 2020: the way forward, it is based on his experience of handling the 2008 crash. This is Venkatesh’s fourth ebook shared with freefincal readers (links below).

About the author in his own words: I was brought up in Chennai and move around Bengaluru, Chennai, Mysuru and Pune to cater my career requirements. But primarily live in Bengaluru and Chennai. Personal finance was my interest even before I started to earn. I found that many youngsters were mismanaging their hard-earned money, and few also had to borrow in the month-end for their food expenses. I used to discuss with them and enlighten on money management and personal finance.

I then extended this knowledge or advisory to new joiners, so that they can plan their finances well from the initial years of their earning and thereby put compounding to work at an early age of 25. I had been voluntarily doing this over the last few years until my work demanded frequent travels. I started investing stocks from the peak of January 2008, the right time to have learned many lessons on stock investment directly from the markets

I tweet on Personal Finance, and Stock market and my Twitter handle is @EWFA_. My landing page with various eBook, Presentation, Compilation and notes is here: My Notes and Compilation on Value Investing. My YouTube channel is Empowering With Financial Awareness

What Should an Investor do Now?

Investors would be having several questions in their mind at this point of time:

  • Is this the right time to invest or wait?
  • Is this the bottom to start investing now?
  • Is there more pain in the coming days? Can I liquidate my portfolio and but it back again at lesser prices?
  • Would this pain last longer or be alright in a few days?
  • If the pain is going to be longer, how much longer?

To understand what lies ahead and what an investor must do at this point of time, one needs to have fair visibility on the impact of this situation. Such an approach will help to assess the ground situation before setting the expectations for the future and forming an investment strategy.
