Jetpack Subscriptions Widget in a Pop-up Window

This is a one-off post intended for WordPress users and is not related to personal finance.

The post details a simple method of integrating Automattic’s Jetpack Blog Subscriptions widget with a pop-up plugin.

I use Jetpack for handling email subscriptions. I am used to it since my wordpress.com days and therefore felt no need to use another application for handling subscriptions.

When I wanted to install a pop-up window that urged readers to follow posts by email, I could not find any pop-up plugin that supported Jetpack.

The following steps allow a user to integrate Jetpack subscription feature to any pop-up widget that supports WordPress shortcode.

1)     Install any pop-plugin that allows html formatting. I chose “Dream Grow Scroll Triggered Box” as it did not affect the browsing experience for readers.

2)     On the  dashboard right panel, locate Scrollboxes below Comments. Select add new Scrollbox. You will get a page which looks like a wordpress post.

Give this page a title. Mine is Jetpack subscriptions.  If you see any text in the page body, delete it.

Add the text shown in the screenshot and publish. Jetpack-pop-up-window

Update:  You can simply enter something like

jetpack_subscription_form title="" subscribe_text="" subscribe_button="Subscribe!" show_subscribers_total="0"

within [] and publish. You can also write additional text like this

jetpack-popup-new

5)     You can see the plugin settings at the bottom of this page. Change settings as desired.

Done! The Jetpack Blog subscriptions Widget should now be visible (and usable!) within the pop-up window. Here is a screenshot.

Thank you, this was brilliant! I've been looking for ages how to "upgrade" my subscribe box to be more visible without having to get a subscription to one of the mailing services (which I'm not ready for just yet). Really helpful post.

When Scroll Triggered Box updated, the [do_widget "Blog Subscriptions (Jetpack)"]
command must be inserted in a different format than what is shown above. The new format looks much like a WP post. It can be found just below the comments section on the dashboard left bar.
See if that is set up right. You can see the pop-up in this page and it has so far worked well for me.

Hi, thank you so much for posting this. I just followed this step by step and could not find the Box HTML function. It doesn't appear to be working on http://www.HairAndMakeupBlog.com. Now I finally got the box to show up... sometimes but the email address isn't being added to the Jetpack email address list. Please help.

I am also trying to get this set up for my site using Jetpack. Now that the form looks completely different than your pictures I'm not sure what code, if any, I should be entering where to have it subscribe to jetpack. I am really not tech savvy so any specific help you could provide would be so great. Thanks!

Hello, thank you for your this blog! However even though the jetpack subscription widget works on my site, the wordpress popup with the same shortcut appears, but when people try to subscribe they never get an email confirmation and the subscription isn't successful. Anything else I can do?? Nothing seems to work. Thank you ahead of time!

I've tried this every different way (using shortcode, using amr shortcode) and I can get the box to appear and the form to appear in the box, but it won't take emails and never sends the confirmation email.
